The Dolphin PMC-SCI adapter card is a standard, high performance solution for clustered systems, bus bridging and system area network applications. The card provides a transparent, memory-mapped link for PMC and PCI.
The PMC-64/66 Adapter Card is a general-purpose interface for connecting PMC, CompactPCI and VME based systems through SCI links. The card is designed to be utilized in applications such as computer clusters, scalable interconnection of I/O and bus bridging.
Dolphin's industry-leading throughput and low latency result in outstanding application performance and scalability. Its 1333 MBytes/s link speed (bidirectional) makes SCI excellent at moving large volumes of data. The ultra-low 1.46 microsecond latency application-to-application reduces the overhead of internode control messages, leading to the best possible scalability for multi-node applications. SCI's performance is achieved by taking maximum advantage of fast point-to-point links, and bypassing the time consuming operating system calls and protocol software overhead found in traditional networking approaches.
For high availability requirements, SCI provides hot-pluggable connections; and redundant SCI cards can be used to increase fault tolerance. Large clusters can be built using Dolphin Interconnect's compatible scalable switches.
